Microsoft has announced that Windows Home Server (WHS) Power Pack 3 (PP3) will be available in all shipping languages (Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish) on November 24, 2009. As always, PP3 will arrive for free via Windows Update for all existing Windows Home Server users.
PP3 adds features like backup and restore of computers running Windows 7, Windows 7 Libraries integration, enhancements for Windows Media Center, and better support for netbook computers. Microsoft is reminding Windows 7 users to be sure to install PP3 to get the "most optimal experience" on a WHS network.
Microsoft released a single beta of PP3 in July 2009 and said there would be no further betas or Release Candidates. The plan was to get PP3 out by the fourth week of October, but delays set the release back by about a month.
WHS PP2 arrived in March 2009 and PP1 arrived in July 2008. In addition to PP3, Microsoft is reportedly working on version 2 of WHS, though details on that release are still scarce.
