How to show CSS HTML Scripts Code on Blogger Post?

If you try to show some HTML, CSS or any Scripting language codes on Blogger Post directly then you may get some tag error messages or you may see blank spaces instead of code lines. To solve this problem you can apply a simple trick. You have to just modify your code a little bit.

Just Replace all "<" with

And Replace all ">" with
It is tiring to replace all "<" or ">" sign one by one. You may do that job easily using any text editor like "Notepad" or "WordPad" . You will find Replace option from menu bar.

For example, you want to show the following codes on post:

This is the screenshot of above code.

So just replace all "<" with

and similarly replace all ">" with
After modifying your code it looks like below codes:

Steps to make multiple instances of gTalk
Install Gtalk and make a shortcut copy of Gtalk on your desktop. (right click on gtalk icon and create shortcut)

Now, Right Click on created Shortcut and select properties.

What is mDNSResponder.exe?

The mDNSResponder.exe process belongs to the Bonjour for Windows service, which is Apple’s “Zero Configuration Networking” application, typically installed automatically by iTunes. If you’ve ever wondered how one iTunes install can talk to another on the same local network, Bonjour is what actually does this behind the scenes.

Don’t use iTunes? You aren’t alone, and that’s not the only way that Bonjour gets installed on your computer. It’s also bundled in a whole bunch of other software, like Pidgin, Skype, and Safari, and used to connect clients together on the same network.

It’s implemented as a Windows Service, which you can see if you head into the services panel (or just type services.msc into the start menu search box). You can stop it from here anytime.

The whole problem we have is that it generally doesn’t show up in Add / Remove Programs, so you can’t get rid of it through any normal methods. Thankfully you can still remove mDNSResponder.exe if you really want to, and it will simply limit some of the functionality in the apps that might rely on it.

Important: Don’t remove Bonjour if you use iTunes to share libraries, or any other feature from an application that relies on it.

How Do I Remove It?
First, it should be noted that you can disable Bonjour without necessarily removing it—just head into the Services panel, double-click on the service, and change the Startup type to Disabled.

This is probably your best bet if you don’t really want to break anything—if you have problems you can always re-enable it.

Alright, How Do I Really Remove It?

Let’s get down to business. If you’re absolutely sure you want to remove it, it’s really pretty simple. Open up a command prompt in administrator mode (right-click and choose Run as Administrator), and then change into the installation directory, usually the following:\Program Files\Bonjour

If you are using Vista or Windows 7 x64 edition, you’ll need to head into the Program Files (x86) folder instead. Now that you are there, type in the following command to see the options:mDNSResponder.exe /?

Ah, so now we know what to do to remove it! Simply type in the following: mDNSResponder.exe –remove

You’ll get a message saying that the service has been removed. (Note again that you need an Administrator mode command prompt)

You’ll want to also disable the DLL file in the directory by renaming it to something else:ren mdnsNSP.dll mdnsNSP.blah

You should be able to actually remove that entire directory if you really want to.

Wait, How Do I Enable It Again?

Oh, so your favorite application broke? No matter, you can easily re-install the Bonjour service with the following command: mDNSResponder.exe -install

But I Deleted It!

See, you really shouldn’t delete things until you are sure they aren’t useful anymore. That’s why renaming is a good thing. Thankfully you can simply head over to Apple’s page and install Bonjour again.

Know some facts on movie "Sholay"

"Sholay" - My all time best Movie.

Sholay (Hindi: शोले, Urdu: شعلے) (English: Embers) is an Indian film directed by Ramesh Sippy. It is the biggest hit in the history of Bollywood, India's Hindi film industry. Released on August 15, 1975, it stars Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Jaya Bhaduri and Amjad Khan.

The movie, shot in the rocky terrain of Ramanagara (actual village in Karnataka),is the story of two petty criminals hired to capture, for a bounty, a ruthless dacoit by the name of Gabbar Singh.

Sholay is the highest grossing film of all time in Indian cinema. It has earned Rs. 768,81,00,000, equivalent to US$ 160 million, after adjusting for inflation. When first released, the film was declared a commercial disaster. Word of mouth convinced movie-goers to give the film a chance and soon it became a box-office phenomenon. It ran for 286 weeks straight (more than five years) in one Mumbai theatre, the Minerva.

Sholay racked up a still-record 60 golden jubilees across India and doubled its original gross over reruns during the late 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. Sholay was the first film in the history of Indian cinema to celebrate silver jubilee (25 weeks) at over a hundred theatres across India.

In 1999, BBC India declared it the "Film of the Millennium"; Indiatimes movies ranks the movie amongst the Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films. In that same year, the judges of the 50th annual Filmfare awards awarded it with a special award called Filmfare Best Film of 50 Years.

· 40 Prints were released in Bombay territory

· Total running time of the movie is 3 hours 20 minutes & length is 20,000 feet. Director exposed 3,00000 feet of raw stock for the movie.

· Polydar Music co. released 30,000 records of Sholay’s music in the market before the 2 months of releasing of the movie. & The initial response was very poor.

· Sholay was the first movie of which dialogue sound tracks were released in the market & it sold like hot cake in the market & got more popularity than the music of the movie.

· Film’s 70 mm prints were prepared in London (UK)

· It was about to be removed from cinemas due to low attendance figures but attendance started rising and word of mouth made it the biggest hit of Indian cinema so far with some screens playing the film for several years.

· The movie was released in other parts of the country on 11th Oct 1975 when it became successful in Bombay territory.

· The flamboyant Shatrughan Sinha was initially cast for the role of Jai, but Amitabh Bachchan convinced the producers that he was suitable for the role.

· Danny Donezgappa who was initially offered the role of Gabbar Singh was busy shooting in Afghanistan for Dharmatma (1975) He could not accept the role and the reluctant second choice was Amjad Khan got it.

· Initially, 'Dharmendra' was keen to play the role of Thakur Baldev Singh. He eventually relented when the director informed him that Sanjeev Kumar would play Veeru if that happened, and would get the heroine. Sanjeev Kumar had just then proposed marriage to Hema Malini Dharmendra was in love with her and quickly went back to the role of Veeru.

· The famous overhead tank scene where Veeru threatens Mausi with suicide and Jai attempts at making a proposal of marriage was drawn from a real life incident.

· Director Man Mohan Desai was first approached by the writing duo of 'Salim Javed with the story for this movie. He was busy with Chacha Bhatija (1977) and could not accept the project.

· Actor Amjad Khan was almost dropped from the project because scriptwriter 'Javed Akhtar' found his voice too weak for Gabbar Singh's role.

· After this incident Salim Javed never worked with Amjad Khan in their career.

· Amitabh Bachan was almost killed at the end of the movie when a stray bullet from 'Dharmendra' missed him by inches.

· The train robbery sequence was shot on the Mumbai-Pune line, near Panvel.

· Amjad Khan's calling one of his associates Sambha ("A rre o Sambha', tera kya hoga?") caught the fancy of not just moviegoers, but also producers. So much so that a producer promptly announced a movie titled Sambha.

· This was the first film in the history of Indian cinema to celebrate silver jubilee (25 weeks) at over 100 theatres across India.

· The film was shot extensively in Ramnagaram near Bangalore, There are huge rocks of granite in this town, which formed the backdrop of Gabbar Singh's hideout. As a mark of respect, the people of Ramnagaram renamed a hamlet in the town as Sippynagar after the director of the movie, Ramesh Sippy.

· In the original ending, the Thakur killed Gabbar. The Indian Censor Board did not agree with this ending, saying that its vigilante aspect undermined the rule of law and could adversely influence naive young minds. So, a new ending was created that showed the police running in at the last moment, arresting Gabbar, and specifically telling the Thakur that only the law has the right to punish criminals.

· The original ending was restored in the 204-minute director's cut, & some prints with original ending are available in the market.

· Sholay was refused Censor certificate on 20th July 1975 & film was scheduled to release on 15th Aug 1975, so the director re- shot the climax of the movie & released it within a span of 26 days.

· Real Bullets were used for the close up action scenes.

· First scene shot for the movie was Amitabh returning the keys to the safe to Jaya.

· There are two sets of negatives, one in 70mm and one in 35mm as every shot/scene was done twice.

· Jim Allen, Gerry Cramton, Romo Comoro, John Gant...some of the foreign technicians who worked on the action sequences.

· The opening train sequence took 7 weeks to shoot.

· The last scene shot for Sholay was the Thakur meets Veeru and Jai outside the jail and offers them the job.

· Sholay took nearly Two and half years to complete (450 shifts)

· Amjad's voice was nearly dubbed, as there were whispers it not being strong enough for a villain.

· The background music took a whole month to complete.

· Sholay's Budget was close to 3 crores.

· Jaya was pregnant during the shooting of the film with Shweta Bachchan.

· Jaya was glowing again during the premiere of Sholay...this time with Abhishek Bachchan.

· Sachin was a veteran film actor with 60 films behind him from 1962.... but A.K Hangal was a newcomer to films.

· Amjad's first scene shot was his introduction scene.....his first lines "Kitne Aadmi The"? & He gave 40 retakes to complete the final cut.

· Sholay had a Qawalli title 'Chand Sa Koi Chehra' Qawalli. (8 mins)which was chopped at editing table.
·
Playbacksingers of Qawalli were Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey, Bhupinder and Anand Bakshi, with chorus.

Chaand sa koi chehra na pehloo main ho
To chandni ka mazaa nahin aata
Jaam peekar shraabi na gir jaahe to
Maikashi ka mazaa nahin aata

(There is no joy in moonlight
Without the moon-faced one by my side.
There is no joy in wine
If having drunk I do not stumble and fall)

· Mac Mohan traveled 27 times from Bombay to Bangalore for the shooting of small role of Sambha.

· Sholay ran 5 year consecutively in Minerva theatre of Bombay.

· Long opening train sequence was lifted from a Hollywood movie named “stage Coach”.

· Amitabh Bachan recommended the name of Amjad Khan for the role of Gabbar Singh as he had earlier worked with him in Saat Hindustani.

· The particular lighting of lamp scene of Radha (Jaya Bachan) during sun set was completed in 20 days & it is surprising this scene hardly come for 2 minutes when watch the movie on screen.

· Amjad Khan death sequence was completed in 17 days.

· Sachin’s (Ahmad) death sequence was shot in 17 days & it was so violent that censor refused to pass it was edited and shown as Amjad Khan crushing an ant (Chinti) as a symbol.

· 6 counterfeit coins with Head both side were always ready at the location for Jai coin throwing sequence in the movie.

· There are only 9 scenes of Gabbar Singh in the movie.

· Sholay’s producer GP Sippy gifted an AC to actor Sachin at the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the movie.

· All other leading stars of the movie were gifted Gold Bracelets at the Diamond Jubilee of the movie & the cameraman of the movie Dwarka Divecha was gifted Fiet car by the producer.

· “Gabbar Singh” character was so famous that Britannia Biscuits made a commercial with Amjad Khan eating Biscuits. This was the first time that a villain character was used by a company to publicise its products. The advertisement was an instant hit in children and the sales doubled.

· Hooked up by his character of “Soorma Bhopali”, years later Jagdeep himself made a film with the title “Soorma Bhopali” in 1988.

· Viju Khote was renamed “Kaalia” forever after this movie.

· Till date Asrani has to speak, “Hum Angrezon Ke Zamaane Ke Jailor” in his every TV and Stage Appearance.

· Macmohan was so disturbed that his all scenes were deleted from the movie. But he may still wonder how only one scene and few words can be popular all over the world even after so many years. For a long time filmmakers kept using the name “Samba” in their films to gain popularity.

· Many years later, Recently Amitabh thanked Dharmendera on the stage of a prestigious award function for recommending him to Ramesh Sippy for casting in Sholay.

· If you love this CLASSIC and still wish it to see it again after so many years then you must read a highly entertaining book by Anupama Chopra, “Sholay and its making” released by Penguin Books.

Make Free STD-ISD calls using Skype

We can see so many tips and tricks on Internet which says make free calls or cheap STD-ISD calls and most of them don’t even work. Here is one trick which I tried and worked for me. I’m sure this will work for you.

Though before sharing this trick, most of free voice call features works on advertisement. They provide you free calling feature because they run advertisement before the call. This is the same in the case of free SMS.

To make this free calls we are going to use Skype (I mostly use Skype Messenger). Open Skype and key in this number

1-800-3733-411 (1-800-free-411)

Since its a 800 number you will not be charged anything. You will be welcomed with an automated voice message. Upon asking, for various voice response say free call.

After That dial your desired phone number. This free call will last for 5 minutes only but you can again redial the number by restarting the process.

I’m sure by using this you can save lots of your bills on your phone calls. Do share any other trick you know to save bills on phone calls.

Place a checkmark in the 'Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages' box

click 'details'

click select the default keyboard layout and language from the pull-down menu

select a text 'input' language

Select a language

click 'ok'

click 'advanced'

select the language font

click 'apply'

click 'ok'

You may be asked to insert your Windows install CD

reboot

Another Option

Most of the laptop pre-installed with XP archives the content of the installation CD on the hard-disk. The location of the archive depends on the brand/company you bought the laptop from. When you first boot the laptop, it will ask you to backup the system to CD so you can recover the XP in case you need to reinstall.

If you have the hard-disk formatted, you maybe able to buy the XP from the company that you bought the laptop from and the CD is different for different models, so make sure you order the right one for you laptop. It's possible to just buy the XP CD off the shelf, but you may have to find drivers for your laptop and it sometimes maybe difficult depending on how popular the model of your laptop is.

If it's just looking for a specific system file, fonts and keyboard layout, you may be able to find them on the net. When it ask for the CD try pointing to some random directory and see what files is it looking for.

More Idea.

If you don't have a XP CD, so u have to do the following.

Enabling CTL (Complex Text Layout) on XP. (For Arabic, Thai, indic, hebrew, etc).

1) Go to control panel and click "Regional and Language Options".
2) Click the "Languages" Tab
3) enable the "Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai)" checkbox.
4) click apply

It will prompt you for all the missing files if you don't have a XP CD. All the files are available on the net and I'm not sure about the copyright issues. I've listed the files below so you can google them and make sure that there's no copyright issues. Copy the files to one folder and point to that folder when it's looking for the missing files.

What is DjVu, and what are the secrets behind DjVu's superior performance?

Over 90 percent of the information in the world is still on paper. Many of those paper documents include color graphics and/or photographs that represent significant invested value. And almost none of that rich content is on the Internet.

That's because scanning such documents and getting them onto a Web site has been problematic at best. At the high resolution necessary to ensure the readability of the text and to preserve the quality of the images, file sizes become far too bulky for acceptable download speed. Reducing resolution to achieve satisfactory download speed means forfeiting quality and legibility. Conventional web formats such as JPEG, GIF, and PNG produce prohibitively large image files at decent resolution. As a result, Web site content developers have been largely unable to leverage existing printed materials.

DjVu (pronounced "déjà vu") is a new image compression technology developed since 1996 at AT&T Labs to solve precisely that problem. DjVu allows the distribution on the Internet of very high resolution images of scanned documents, digital documents, and photographs. DjVu allows content developers to scan high-resolution color pages of books, magazines, catalogs, manuals, newspapers, historical or ancient documents, and make them available on the Web.

Information that was previously trapped in hard copy form can now be made available to wide audience.

Benefits... and Opportunities

Research institutions, libraries, and government agencies can give access to their archives. Companies can distribute internal documents on their intranets.

The developing and distribution of DjVu technology is now handled by Caminova Inc..

DjVu is an open standard. The file format specification, as well as an open source implementations of the decoder (and part of the encoder) are available.

The Next Generation Compression Technologies

DjVu typically achieves compression ratios about 5 to 10 times better than existing methods such as JPEG and GIF for color documents, and 3 to 8 times than TIFF for black and white documents.

Scanned pages at 300 DPI in full color can be compressed down to 30 to 100KB files from 25MB.. Black-and-white pages at 300 DPI typically occupy 5 to 30KB when compressed.

This puts the size of high-quality scanned pages within the realm of an average HTML page (which is typically around 50KB).

For color document images that contain both text and pictures, DjVu files are typically 5 to 10 times smaller than JPEG at similar quality. For black-and-white pages, DjVu files are typically 10 to 20 times smaller than JPEG and five times smaller than GIF. DjVu files are also about 3 to 8 times smaller than black and white PDF files produced from scanned documents (scanned documents in color are impractical in PDF).

In addition to scanned documents, DjVu can also be applied to documents produced electronically in formats such as Adobe's PostScript or PDF. In that case, the file sizes are between 15 to 20KB per page at 300 DPI.

The DjVu plug-in is available for standard Web browsers on various platforms. The DjVu plug-in allows for easy panning and zooming of document images. A unique on the fly decompression technology allows images that normally require 25MB of RAM to be decompressed to require only 2MB of RAM.

Conventional image viewing software decompresses images in their entirety before displaying them. This is impractical for high-resolution document images since they typically go beyond the memory capacity of many PCs, causing excessive disk swapping. DjVu, on the other hand, never decompresses the entire image, but instead keeps the image in memory in a compact form, and decompresses the piece displayed on the screen in real time as the user views the image. Images as large as 2,500 pixels by 3,300 pixels (a standard page image at 300 DPI) can be downloaded and displayed on very low-end PCs.

The DjVu format is progressive. Users get an initial version of the page very quickly, and the visual quality of the page progressively improves as more bits arrive. For example, the text of a typical magazine page would appear in just three seconds over a 56Kbps modem connection. In another second or two, the first versions of the pictures and backgrounds will appear. Then, after a few more seconds, the final full-quality version of the page is completed.

One of the main technologies behind DjVu is the ability to separate an image into a background layer (i.e., paper texture and pictures) and foreground layer (text and line drawings). Traditional image compression techniques are fine for simple photographs, but they drastically degrade sharp color transitions between adjacent highly contrasted areas - which is why they render type so poorly. By separating the text from the backgrounds, DjVu can keep the text at high resolution (thereby preserving the sharp edges and maximizing legibility), while at the same time compressing the backgrounds and pictures at lower resolution with a wavelet-based compression technique. DjVu is used by many commercial and non-commercial web sites on the Web today.

Nepali language conjuncts::
You may need to know the different forms of Nepali language conjuncts before we show you how to type in Unicode environment. Two Unicode special formatting control characters play an important role in representing the different forms of Nepali language conjuncts:

1. 'zero-width joiner' (ZWJ)
2. 'zero-width non-joiner' (ZWNJ)

1. A Zero Width Joiner (ZWJ) is typically used to fuse two characters that normally do not form a ligature or a fused form.

2. A Zero Width Non Joiner (ZWNJ) is typically used to represent the separated form of characters that normally fuse together to form a ligature.

In the context of Nepali, the halant representation has an implicit behavior similar to zero-width joiner.

The ZWJ and ZWNJ, among other things, can be used to represent different forms of conjuncts as shown in the following example:

The ZWJ and ZWNJ, among other things, can be used to represent different forms of conjuncts as shown in the following example:

The ZWJ following the consonant+halant sequence (‘ka’+ halant in the example) represents the half-consonant form of the syllable (‘ka’ in the above example). The ZWNJ, on the other hand, is used in representing the split or separated form of the conjunct. When neither the ZWJ nor the ZWNJ appears following the halant character, the conjunct is shown in the customary full ligature form.

Windows Home Server Power Pack 3 coming November 24

Microsoft has announced that Windows Home Server (WHS) Power Pack 3 (PP3) will be available in all shipping languages (Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish) on November 24, 2009. As always, PP3 will arrive for free via Windows Update for all existing Windows Home Server users.

PP3 adds features like backup and restore of computers running Windows 7, Windows 7 Libraries integration, enhancements for Windows Media Center, and better support for netbook computers. Microsoft is reminding Windows 7 users to be sure to install PP3 to get the "most optimal experience" on a WHS network.

Microsoft released a single beta of PP3 in July 2009 and said there would be no further betas or Release Candidates. The plan was to get PP3 out by the fourth week of October, but delays set the release back by about a month.

WHS PP2 arrived in March 2009 and PP1 arrived in July 2008. In addition to PP3, Microsoft is reportedly working on version 2 of WHS, though details on that release are still scarce.

Make Cool Run Command Shortcuts in Windows

Have you ever tried out “%TEMP%” in the Run window? If no, then try it now (it will take you to the temp folder where Windows stores Temporary files). These “%TEMP%” are called variables in Windows.

What if I tell you that you can make custom variables like the %TEMP% variable? Something like %MUSIC% which can take you to the folder where you have your music collections or %GAMES% which would take you to your favorite NFS Collections…how about that?

In this post I’ll be writing on how to make such cool run shortcuts (using variables) in: Windows XP and Windows Vista.

In Windows XP
Go to System Properties (Windows Logo key + Pause Break key).

Go to the “Advanced” tab.

At the bottom, you’ll see “Environment Variables“, click on it.

In that Window, you’ll see “Environment Variables for…“, click the “New…” button below it.

Now in the “Variable Name“, type whatever you want the shortcut text to be (Music? Games? Movies?) & in the “Variable Value“, type the path where you want the shortcut to take you (it can be an application, file, folder or anything you wish!).

That’s it…Let’s test it! Go to Run (Windows Logo key + R) and type your variable’s name between two percent signs (%),i.e, %your-variable-here% and hit Enter. It will take you to whatever value you had given in the “Variable Value”

In Windows Vista
Go to Advanced System Properties (Windows Logo key + Pause Break key & then click on “Advanced System Settings” on the right sidebar).

Click on “Environment Variables” at the bottom of the “Advanced” tab.

Choose “New..” to create a new Variable.

In the “Variable Name“, type whatever you want the shortcut text to be & in the “Variable Value“, type the path where you want the shortcut to take you (it can be an application, file, folder or anything you wish!).

Done! Time to test your shortcut…Go to Run (Windows Logo key + R) and type your variable’s name between two percent signs (%) i.e, “%your-variable-name%” and hit Enter, this will take you to whatever “Variable Value” you had given to it.

Re-Enable: Enable regedit, Cmd, Task Manager, System Restore

When malicious software or virus get into a PC, the instant effect by them is to make their detection difficult by disable Registry Editor, Command prompt, Task manager etc. But Re-Enabling these system files is very difficult. In this condition a portable tool Re-Enable can help you out. Re-Enable Portable is a handy tool that will re enable registry editing, Cmd, Task Manager, System restore and Run command.

As I said above malicious software or virus disable these to prevent removal of such viruses ,with one click regedit will be re activated ,without messing around with scripts or third party registry editors. This is coded in .net but doesn’t need .net installed because .net dependencies are included in the program making it fully portable.

Downloading FLV video files from YouTube, MySpaceTV, and Google Video with Internet Download Manager

After installing IDM, a "Download This Video" button pops up whenever you are watching a video anywhere in cyberspace (shown in the picture below). Just click on the button to start downloading clips. It's as simple as that; you do not have to separately launch Internet Download Manager. What's more, you can choose to download a clip at any point during the video, and the scene will be captured from the start. The download will proceed in the background even if you pause or stop watching. And you can download more than one video at the same time.

You can also use context menu in Firefox or IE based browsers to download FLV videos from popular sites like YouTube, MySpaceTV, Google Video, etc. When your browser starts playing a video file, IDM grabs its download link. If you like the video, and you would like to save it on your computer, you should open IE context menu by right clicking on the web page that plays the video, and select "Download FLV video content with IDM" menu item. The context menu appears when you right click on a web page (but not on an flv player) in your browser or by using context menu key on the keyboard.

If you don't have this menu item in Firefox or other Mozilla based browsers, you will need to reinstall idmmzcc.xpi extension. Pick "File->Open File..." menu item in the main menu of your browser and open idmmzcc.xpi file from IDM root folder ("C:\Program Files\Internet Download Manager\" by default).

Internet Explorer (right click page context menu)

Mozilla based (Firefox) (right click page context menu)

IDM will start downloading the video and show its standard download dialog. If the server has not specified the file name explicitly, IDM will name the file based on the web page title. You can also edit the filename, add a description, and change its path or category on this dialog.

It's also possible to add FLV extension to IDM list of downloadable file types in IDM Options -> "File Types" tab to take over the download of all FLV videos. In this case videos won't be played in your browser. The videos will be downloaded by IDM, saved to your local disk, and can be played if you have an FLV player.

Following are the sites Internet Download Manager is known to work with: Youtube, MySpaceTV, Google Videos, video.xanga.com, www.break.com, www.dailymotion.com, www.esnips.com, and many others

You should have an FLV player (or codec or video converter) installed to play FLV videos.

Download Free FLV Player HERE

But I use these two Players in my laptop. They support many types of video and audio extensions.

HOW TO FORMAT A WRITE PROTECT USB DRIVE?

What is Write Protected error and why it happens?
This seems to be the problem of most of us these days and some of our readers who wanted to know the methods how they can remove the Write Protected error from their USB drives like Pen Drives and memory cards. In the Write Protected error, we can’t write or copy any data in our flash drives and even can’t format the drive. There are many reasons that cause this problem, let’s see solutions of them.

Solution 1:
To format a write protected USB flash drive, you must first unprotect it. Most USB flash drives have a tiny switch somewhere around it's casing. You will have to look at it closely because it is sometimes placed where you won't notice it. If your computer says it is write protected, just unplug your flash drive, move the switch to the other end and plug it in again. You will now be able to format it.

Solution 2:
Delete and re-partition the USB drive, using Windows XP. Go to "Control Panel," "Administrative Tools" and "Disk Management." Select the USB drive and click "Delete." Right-click on the empty drive and select "New Partition."

Solution 3:
Just download this helpful software from Here and run it to execute a “low-level format” on the drive. This software is quite handy and may take few attempts to actually remove the error.

After the low level format, you may need to “Partition the drive“. Dont worry, partitioning a pen drive means allocating it its File System and Cluster Size that was lost after the Low Level Format.

Follow this Method:

Run diskmgmt.msc in Run.
In the disk management window, select the pen drive, right click on it and click on Format.
Now choose the File System and Allocation Unit Size and do not check the boxes below.

Click OK and the drive will be reusable after this.

Solution 4:
This happens when some virus or script which applies the registry hack to make any drive write protect when connected to the computer, In that case follow the procedure below to remove write protection from your pen drive.

1. Open Start Menu >> Run, type regedit and press Enter, this will open the registry editor.

2. Navigate to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Note: If the registry key StorageDevicePolicies key does not exist, you will need to create it

Download this batch file called add.bat from here Download, and double click after download the key will be automatically added to registry.

3. Double click the key WriteProtect in the right pane and set the value to 0 in the Value Data Box and press OK button

4. Exit Registry, restart your computer and then again re-connect your USB pen drive on your computer. That is it, done.

If you don't find StorageDevicePolicies key in the registry, the best way is to create it yourself. Below is the procedure.

Start the Registry Editor Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control key

If there is no key called StorageDevicePolicies, create it.

You do this by right-clicking the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control key, and selecting New > Key from the menu.

Select the StorageDevicePolicies key

From the menu select Edit > New > DWORD Value

Name the new value WriteProtect

Right-click the WriteProtect value and choose Modify

In the Value Data: box enter 1

Exit the registry editor, and restart your computer

To reverse, just delete the new WriteProtect value (or set the value to 0) and restart the computer.

Solution 5:
If the above method does not work for you, follow the below steps:

1. Copy all the important data from this drive to your computer because this method will format the drive and erase all the data on the pen drive.

2. Now download the Apacer Formatting Utility Download Here , Unzip this utility to a folder. Keep your pen drive plugged in, and double click on the Start.bat file in the folder where you unzipped the above utility. This will start formatting your pen drive, wait till the formatting completes and the LED on your pen drive stops blinking. Remove your pen drive after than and plug it in again.

The above two steps will solve the problem. If you still face the problem, follow the below steps:

1. Goto Start > Run, type cmd and press enter, this will open command prompt.

2. Type the following command on the command prompt replacing X with the drive letter of your pen drive.

CHKDSK X: /F

The above two methods will help you fix the problem.

Note: For all those who are out of luck in fixing the problem with their portable drives, I would suggest you to get your drives checked or replaced by the manufacturer to fix it for you

Solution 6:
BUT if none of the methods listed above solves your problem then your pen drive might have gone corrupted, so just get it replaced.
