Some Important Things Every Blogger Need To Learn

To be a professional blogger isn’t as simple as waking up one morning and stating, “I am a blogger, look out world!” Like any other discipline, being a successful blogger means that you have to take the job seriously. That means working with dedication, planning and forethought. Here are ten things that every new blogger must know:
  • Don’t check web traffic obsessively if there isn't high traffic, don’t quit.
  • When you are beginning a new blog, there is always something to do: Write an article, add a WordPress feature, or add a new blogger template, implement techniques to get more subscribers. Always. There’s always something.
  • You put your audience first and you spend more time listening than talking. Don’t get stuck with someone else’s belief about word count, frequency of posts, and editorial calendars. Work your blog based on what feels right for you and your readers.
  • A lot of people look at big blogs and think they’re the holy grail. If only you had 100 subscribers. Then, once that threshold’s been crossed, if only you had 1000. Then 10000. Note that Small is beautiful.
  • One way you can start to attract a lot more participants to your community is to put yourself out there. Be authentic. Be transparent. Put plenty of you into your work. You have to put enough of yourself into your project so people can feel a connection with a real human being.
  • The secret to blogging lies in the writing. Be conversational, say exactly what you need to say, and be done. It may be 50 words or 500. No one will care if you write in a compelling and helpful style.
  • Invite your audience to get involved by asking for their feedback, experience, or opinion. Be sure to check your comments daily and respond to everyone. After all, no one likes to be ignored. Blogs are interactive, not static. Invite the dialogue.
  • Interesting visuals, pictures, and video snippets all add to the reader’s experience.

Be Careful! Blogger Is Deleting Many Bloggers Blogs. How To Be In Safe Side ??

The bad news is heard often lately. Blogger is intense to delete blogs, even the blogger accounts as well. Therefore, be careful!

The bad news comes from some of my friends that their blogs were deleted, and several days ago, one of my Friend's Friend blog was also deleted.

So how to anticipate our blogs in order not to be deleted by blogger? As the hirer, there is no really powerful way to overcome, but there are some tips to try on, at least, to reduce the risk of deletion or after a deletion.
  • Don’t do the things to violate the blogger’s Term Of service.
  • Don’t do the things under surveillance such as paid post review, selling links, over banner ads, etc.
  • Don’t install Auto-Blog (to post automatically).
  • Don’t post too many until hundreds in one day.
  • Don’t create too many blogs in one account.
  • Do the backup on your blogs regularly. You can do it with: Login -> Settings – Basic tab -> Export Blog.
Separate the most important blogs to be one blog one account, don’t make them in one account with another low quality blogs. For instance, You have two most reliable blogs, so you can place them in different account, so that when one blog is deleted, there is still another blog in the other account. If both are deleted, just say goodbye.

To separate the most important blogs that are in one account with the others, you can create a new email, then you have to invite the email (as if it’s not you) to be the author (login – setting – permission) in your account, which has the same rights with the old admin. If done, just log in with your new email. And since in this new email, you have the same rights, of course, you can delete the first admin ha ha (still confused? Poor you!

If you want to invest a little amount of your money, you had better use, the custom domain or top level domain (TLD), so your blogs will be no longer as http://example.blogspot.com, but will be addressed as http://example.com. If the address of your blog has become the custom domain address, one day your blog is deleted, you can then create a new blog and import the deleted blog through your backup file. Then change the address with your previous one, just like the address of deleted blog. Need to know that importing the blog will be different with new posts, so the dates of posts and comments will be the same as before.

The wise way is just to leave your dependence on blogger, so please buy the web hosting at cheap price but with the quality, and then you can use Wordpress.org. Then import all of the data from blogger to wordpress and your blog will be back.

I hope it is useful, and the most expected one is your blog won’t be deleted by blogger.

Enjoy Blogging My Friends!!

How To Add Google Buzz Buttons To Blogger ?

First it was Facebook, then Twitter and now it is Google Buzz. Being a blogger, you don't have to worry on who's copying whom! All these websites let their users interact more easily and for webmasters, it means free traffic with minimum efforts. So, keep all your options open as you never know which of them may bring a big wave of traffic to your blog!

Now talking about G-Buzz, although Google has not yet provided any official "Buzz It!" buttons, but it does allow you to synchronize your blog-feed with the Buzz, so that all your posts are directly sent to your Buzz account. Simply add your blog to the connected sites list...

Here's how you can add these buttons to your blog:

STEP #1
Log in to Blogger, go to Layout -> Edit HTML
and mark the tick box "Expand Widget Templates"

Now, find this code in the template:

STEP #2
And immediately Below/After it, paste this code:

It will display a small Buzz It! button like this:

Or, paste this code:

It will display a larger Buzz It! button like this one:

Note: By default, the alignment of these buttons is kept to "Right", you may change it to "Left" too. To change the position of the button, change the value -45 pixels (in margin-top:-42px;).

STEP #3
Save the template and let the Buzzer Buzzzzzzz...

Update:
A new javascript based code is there to display these G-Buzz buttons; wherein if the readers select any part of the post before hitting the "Buzz This" button, then the selected text (and images too) will also appear in their G-buzz updates.

Here's the new code:

Note: Use this code, instead of the one from STEP #2, if you want those additional benefits. The above code will display the larger icon by default, change the image-url to show the smaller icon.

Your Email Address And Blogger Account

One of the promises of Blogger, which makes a Blogger blog such an asset to the masses of the world, is the freedom to publish without being forceably identifiable. Anonimity is a major advantage, for many who publish Blogger blogs. But there are a few downsides to anonymity, and one is seen when we try to edit our blogs.

Some bloggers load a blog in the browser window, then click on the "Sign In" link in the navbar, in the expectation that they are signing in to that blog. For folks who only maintain a single Blogger account, and who have enabled the proper security settings, this will appear to be what's happening. But, it's not.

When you sign in to Blogger, you are using a double blind system. Blogger requires you to tell them what account, and what password, you want used. They don't pick an account for you, based upon the blog currently displayed.

If your cookies are properly enabled, the Blogger login process will remember what Blogger/Google account you used, most recently, and try to have you login using that account. If you are currently signed in to Analytics, GMail, Picasa, or any of many other Google products, you may already be signed in to Blogger too. This also happens when you, inadvertently, created a second Blogger account.

If
  • You display your blog before signing in to Blogger.
  • Your blog is owned by a Blogger account that's related to your Analytics, GMail, or Picasa account.
  • You always sign in to that account before signing into Blogger.
Then it may appear that you are signing into your Blogger account based upon your blog. This is, however, a deceptive appearance.

When you login to Blogger, always check and verify what account is displayed for Account Name. Save yourself some trouble. Alternately, verify ownership after you login.

Duplicate Blog Posts? If So? Remove The Duplicate!

As a savvy consumer, you likely love to hear about offers for 2 for the price of 1, of something that you buy frequently. That's a great deal, normally. But, It's not for blog posts, though.

When you start to see double in your blog, chances are that you duplicated the Blog Posts entry in the template. It's not hard to fix, fortunately.

Edit the HTML of the blog. Do not check "Expand Widget Templates". Look for below two lines, in the Body of the template:

<b:widget id='Blog1' locked='true' title='Blog Posts' type='Blog'/>
<b:widget id='Blog2' locked='true' title='Blog Posts' type='Blog'/>

Remove:
<b:widget id='Blog2' locked='true' title='Blog Posts' type='Blog'/>

Don't remove below:
<b:widget id='Blog1' locked='true' title='Blog Posts' type='Blog'/>

Save the change. And clear cache to test your change.

Remember to save a copy of the template, before and after doing this.

Hey! My friends, If you like my post you can save it using "Save Page as PDF" button below and you can even share them to your friends with social networking buttons provided below this post.

How To Show Label Specific Icons Below Post Titles ??

In this Blogger tutorial, you will learn to display icons or any text/image specific for any label/category under the post titles in your blog.

STEP #1:
Log in to Blogger, go to Layout -> Edit HTML and tick the tick-box "Expand Widget Templates"

STEP #2
Find (CTRL+F) this code in the template: <div class='post-header-line-1'/>

and immediately BELOW/AFTER it, paste this code:

If you want to display the icons for four labels, then use this code:

Replace the code in "YOUR_LABEL_#1" etc with the exact names of your labels/categories (including space " " between two words). And replace the text in "TEXT OR LINK TO IMAGE COMES HERE" with the link to the icon you want to use.

For Example: To use the books icon, replace that text "TEXT OR LINK TO IMAGE COMES HERE" with this code: <img src="http://i49.tinypic.com/2elukh4.jpg" alt="Book Reviews"/>

Finally save the template.

Blogger In Draft's Text Editor - Improved Version Launched

Google have made a couple of improvements to the Text Editor on Blogger in Draft!

Add captions to your photos
Now you can easily add captions to the images you include in your blog posts! To add a caption, simply click on the image you've inserted, and click Add caption.

Then you can write your caption just below the image.

Expandable Edit Region
In addition to captions, we've recently added another new feature for you verbose bloggers out there. You can now expand the text area of the editor to give yourself more room as you type. To make the editor region larger, simply click the corner of the editor and drag it down. The editor window will also grow automatically as you run out of space.

Faster Video Uploading
Your time is very important to us, and we are continuously working to make your experience on Blogger fast and easy. We know that it's no fun waiting for your videos to upload, so we've recently made speed improvements to make your videos upload faster.

Look Up Words as You Compose
Google has recently added a dictionary with definitions and translations to "Blogger in Draft." Here's a quick tour of the feature and its functions.

Look up definitions: To look up the definition of a word or phrase, simply highlight it and click the dictionary icon in the editor's toolbar:

This will open the dictionary's Define tab, where you can view definitions for words and phrases across 12 languages.

Get synonyms: If you'd like to see synonyms for an English word, begin by looking up its definition as above. Then, click a hyperlinked synonym to browse to its definition, and click Insert or Replace to add the currently displayed word to your composition:

Currently, synonyms are available only in the English dictionary.

Translate: You can use the Translate tab of the dictionary to translate words and phrases between over 50 languages.

Similar to the Define tab, you can navigate translations by clicking them and can feed them back to the post by clicking Insert.

Let me know what you think of these features in the comments below, and thanks for using Blogger!

Blogger is ready to launch Static Page.

A lot of bloggers using Blogspot will now heave a sign of relief as now they have the option of creating pages just like the way you can create pages while using WordPress.

What is the static page?
Static page is a page that is not included with your post pages of your blog. This page is usually used for the pages of About Me, Contact Us, Terms of Services, phone number, a map to your location, etc.

Note:
This feature is not yet available on your blogspot url. You need to sign into its draft version. Just like Google has Labs page for showcasing and testing new features and applications, Blogspot has draft. You can create up to 10 pages.

How to create a pages on Blogger?
To create, you must sign into draft by clicking here

Now that If you have logged into your draft blogger account, all you need is to go to your blog’s dashboard and visit the Posting section and find a new tab named ‘Edit Pages‘.

Now, click on the 'New Page' button. The post editor will appear, and please fill out as you want. After that, click Publish Page

Once your page is published, you can link to it from the new Pages widget. The Pages widget lets you add links to your pages as tabs at the top of your blog, or as links in your blog's sidebar. After that, an option will appear, whether you want that page on Blog sidebar, tab Blog, or No gadget. Give an option and then click Save and Publish.

In the Pages widget, you can decide which pages will have links, and in what order they will appear. You can also choose whether or not you want links automatically created for pages when you create them by checking or unchecking the box to the left of Add new Pages by default.

Please see the result on your blog.

You can create pages and also add them to either blog sidebar or to blog tabs under the header. Just create a page and you will be prompted automatically to select with the pages widget.

You also can manage and arrange this static page through Layout tab and then Page Element.

Welcome Blogger static page!

Is Blogger trying to stop the migration?
I still think that Blogger is something that people love using for its simplicity. Wordpress has the ability to create pages which does make a first choice for many developers as it is not just blog oriented. Blogger with the option of creating pages will obviously make it better for blogspot fans to stay on and not migrate.

What do you think? Will Blogger give Wordpress competition in the future?

Hey! My freinds. If you like my post you can save it using "Save Page as PDF" button below and you can even share them to your friends with social networking buttons provided below this post.
