Converting .jar file to .exe file using JAR2EXE Converter.

What is JAR file?
In computing software, a JAR file (or Java ARchive) aggregates many files into one. Software developers generally use .jar files to distribute Java applications or libraries, in the form of classes and associated metadata and resources (text, images, etc.) JAR files build on the ZIP file format. Computer users can create or extract JAR files using the jar command that comes with a JDK. They can also use zip tools to do so.

If you have Nokia cell phone then you must have come across the game files that are playable on your phone. Nokia supports Jar game files and these can be easily downloaded from the net.

But if you want to first try the game on the desktop and then install in the phone or just play on the computer itself then here is a small tool that can convert the .jar file into .exe so that the game can be played and installed on the computer itself.

The tool called JAR2EXE Converter will help you easily convert a JAR file (MIDP application, such as Nokia Mobile Games) to an EXE file (Win32 NHAL Emulator). You can run the midlets just like what the execution files running on Windows platform.

- Language: VB.NET
- IDE: Visual Studio 2005

How it works?
This program will run Midp2Exe compiler to convert JAR file (MIDP Application) to EXE file (Win32 NHAL Emulator). Then, it will copy the output file and the runtime library to the output directory.

So you don't have to type a long command line to compile your JAR file, then manually download the runtime library, unzip and copy to the output directory. Just select the output directory and the JAR file that you want to convert, then click Compile button, Finally, run the output EXE in the output directory file to test and enjoy :).

And if you only want to test the output file, just click Test button. It will run the output file, but will not copy the output file to the output directory.
