Taking Ownership Of a File or Folder

If you have ever got a message saying Access Denied when tried opening a folder or change the file content, that maybe because you do not have permission to access it or the file or folder has been corrupted. If it is that you do not have rights to access it, you can take ownership of that folder or file. To do this:

Log on with an account that has administrator rights
Right click on the folder or file and Select Properties
Click on the Security tab
Click on the Advanced button
Click on the Owner tab In the list of Names
Click on your name To take ownership
Click on Replace owner on sub-containers and objects Click OK and then Yes.
